Global Palate Adventures creates small group tours and custom trips for travelers who want to experience new cultures through local food and wine.
We believe that the best way to get to know a new place or understand another culture is to experience the local cuisine. Although all of our tours are unique to each destination, they share some commonalities. The ingredients may include walking through a city center and hearing the history and stories from a local guide or roaming the fish and fresh produce markets with a chef choosing ingredients for our lunch we’ll cook together.
Or perhaps we’ll take a day trip to meet wine makers in their vineyards, farmers and their goats, or bread makers in their family windmill. We like to keep the group sizes small so we can visit local restaurants and shops together. Gratuities for local guides and wine with meals are always included.
Anyone who is as obsessed with learning about new cultures through food and wine as we are. Our guests come with friends, family, or partners. Traveling solo? No problem, lots of our guests come on their own. Our motto is “no one dines alone” (unless you want to!). We promise you’ll leave with new friends. Or do you want to create your own custom trip for your friends or culinary R&D group? Just reach out and we’ll set it up for you.
Susan’s love for travel began early, sparked by a curiosity to experience as much of the world as possible. Her career in foodservice marketing and agriculture gave her the unique opportunity to work closely with farmers, producers, and chefs. As the founder of Food Marketing Resources, she works with agriculture organizations to increase their foodservice business—driven by her passion for connecting those who grow our food with those who celebrate it in the kitchen.
In 2015, Susan launched Global Palate Adventures as a natural extension of that passion. Over the years, she has traveled extensively across the U.S. and abroad, taking cooking classes in kitchens from Spain to Thailand, and discovering how intricately food and culture intertwine. For Susan, there’s no better way to truly know a place than by wandering its markets, meeting producers to hear their stories, and rolling up your sleeves in local kitchens.
Through Global Palate Adventures, she shares these experiences with like-minded travelers, connecting them with local chefs, artisans, and each other, as they celebrate food, wine, and the stories behind every bite. While Susan always has a new adventure on the horizon, she also loves exploring her home base in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and spending time with friends and her two amazing grown daughters.
Allison has traveled around the country and abroad for work and pleasure, falling in love with seeing every new corner of the world. During university, she studied in England and then moved back for a few months to work after graduation. Since then, she has spent many months exploring many corners of the UK. In 2018, she organized a six-month European road trip for herself and a friend, seeing 21 countries across the continent. So far, her favorite countries are Scotland, Morocco, Croatia, Poland, Belgium, and Germany. Allison has worked for Global Palate Adventures since the beginning, both behind the scenes and as a tour leader. Currently, she resides in Portland, Oregon where she coordinates marketing activities and trade shows, and organizes travel excursions – planning trips all over the globe.

I have traveled with Global Palate Adventures on many amazing trips. Each has been very rewarding, blending culinary, local culture and history in just the right mix. There's a perfect balance of planned meals and activities with opportunities to explore restaurants and the locales on your own. The groups are small and congenial and the tour leaders, knowledgeable and well organized. I highly recommend Global Palate Adventures for a trip you will long cherish.
Love these small group tours with emphasis on local culture, culinary and wine!!!
I think for me the most valuable thing was packing so many experiences into a week. We would not have been able to coordinate or plan it all on our own. There was also such a nice mix of things: walking tours, wineries, amazing meals, and culture.
I like to do as much as I can on a trip like this. Good balance. I like the free nights for dinner with different people in the group. I appreciate a travel group that bonds us as friends.
Our Crete food and history walking tour was a beautiful and well-rounded experience of food and culture. The setting of the cooking class, the welcome and hospitality, the hands-on nature, the tour, and of course the meal, were super special.
